Business

Establishing a successful business relationship may often depend on formal correspondence that builds the know, like, and trust factors necessary to make sales. For regular business writing that generates the impression of a substantial enterprise you want to make sure that composition and grammar are correct and that the presentation is properly formatted.

PowerPoint Slides

Sales presentations can benefit from having a series of presentation slides that can keep you and your clients focused on the important benefits from what you offer. The intent of slides is to keep your presentation on track: it is not intended to provide reading material that gets your audience distracted. PowerPoint slide shows have a lot of similarity with Instagram presentations in terms of how the slides are created to drive home an impression without overloading the visual impact on the audience.

The purpose of PowerPoint slides, however, is to maintain consistency for any presentation: it should not represent the verbatim presentation script, only the illustrations and key points that the presentation must address. We often create a companion script for the presenter to review the material, but there is no intention of converting a presentation into a script reading exercise that has been a major complaint of audiences reading the slides and not paying enough attention to the presenter.

It helps to have the slide reflect a creative aspect as well as talking points in a bulleted list to keep the presenter on track. This provides the context and an outline that helps the audience stay connected with the presentation while paying attention to the presenter.

For slide-deck creation each slide will be deemed a page. Depending on the nature of the presentation, and the depth of information implied by each slide, estimate 2 to 3 minutes/page as a guide to how many slides should be created to keep the audience engaged for the duration of the presentation. Also keep in mind any time allotted to a question-and-answer period at the conclusion of the presentation, which reduces the number of slides required.

For example, a 50-minutes presentation may require 16 – 25 slides depending on the presenter and the average scope of the slide contents.
