Technical

To create the appropriate documentation to support products or services, we offer specialized writing services, including computer software documentation. The concept of technical writing is often misunderstood as writing about any technology. While technology may be the subject, what “technical” refers to is the mechanics of composition and grammar.

Technical writing can, therefore, cover all subject matter to make sure it is properly described. In principle, it means executing a project focused on the creation of complex documentation – we created a multi-step methodology to manage writing projects and dovetail the writing effort with your product development so document creation can be synchronized with the development project dates.

User Manuals

We can create end-user documentation to match the technical documentation you use internally, but that is adapted for use by consumers. The lack of user documentation is a major roadblock for product adoption when consumers are not sure about what to do with the product or do not understand its benefits.

The intent of an instruction manual is to explain how to use a product, where to get parts, how to get it repaired, and so on. Simply offering this information on-line can become a major selling point for customer service, as salesclerks may not be product experts and may give customers wrong information. Like other documents we suggest you place these manuals on-line with an easy select and download process to help customers find what they need to know.

This can be a completely technical description on how to assemble and install a product like IKEA furniture – sometimes it is nice to be able to get back to the instructions when a repair is required. Let’s face it: advertising excellence and then hiring teenagers with no technical training that serve customers can backfire on a hardware store unless you separate the sales help from the product excellence.

Instruction manuals can also be completely non-technical, like recipes for using the (exotic) products you feature in your store, or how-to instructions for the care of aquarium fish, or how to knit – whatever is applicable to your business, to differentiate yourself from the competition. Some businesses will post user manuals on-line for ease of access, as well as to help customers do some research before buying the products.

We can help you structure “how-to” guides so that they clearly feature your store: that has the added benefit that, when people share information, they also share a reference to your store as carrying the specific product. Once you have produced that information for customers, putting it on-line makes the information go viral. This is important as it shows a level of sophistication that your competitors may not match.
